Visiting our friends at the Bali Zoo

Another dusk wake-up at 4.30AM, having a prayer and bible devotion to my upmost high God for 1.5 hours. Then have a sunrise walk with Fenie around the home, with the river.

First visit of the day is to bring Abigail have a preview at her future school, SLK (Sekolah Lentera Kasih) at Kerobokan, just behind the Lollypop pre-school. This is a National Plus with English as instruction, it is a branch from the Sunter, Jakarta SLK school. We like this Bali one as half of the students are international so our children get to speak in English environment. This area is near to beach area, Kuta, Seminyak and also lots of bule (westeners) live near here. The school is built around the rice field (sawah), it's quite a typical property surrounding in Bali, but is quite a fascinating view for Jakartan people such as us. Gail and Fenie liked the idea that it has a half-size olympic swimming pool, soccerfield just outside the classes, on a 3-storey building. We looked at the art and computer room, most of the area is new and minimalist design. Maybe I can post some pictures later...

Next, we were hungry.... had lunch at Warung Murah, a kedai makan near the school area. Had some kangkung, telor cabe, chicken, teh botol, sup kepala ikan, etc. Guess how much? It was only 30 ribu. It would probably cost double or triple in Jakarta. The owner even has a salon, which has barber price, only 10ribu for a man haircut. So it's good I found a place to do my routine haircut.

Then we drove to our main of the day, Bali Zoo in Gianyar, so it's quite a long drive from the South to the North. We didn't have GPS so we had to rely on the map and asked many people on the way. We made it and we like the concept of the zoo, it's built on top like a hill with beautiful surrounding of the trees and it is nicely maintained. Gail & Theo started with 3-minute horseriding at the entrance. Then we proceeded to see crocs, birds, monkeys, snakes and ended with the animal show called "Zoo Stars" at the restaurant. There were bats, binturong, lion cub (kid). We took photo as a family with the last one. Overall, it was a nice variety of animals at the zoo.

Last, we went to Carrefour as we needed to do a lot of groceries as we miss lot of things needed in Bali. The drive was again a very long one as we had to go around and asked people the way. First we arrived in Carrefour at Imam Bonjol, but we didn't feel like to go in there, we cancelled it and went straight to Carrefour at Sunshine road. It was the better choice, much more nice shopping center with lots of shops and a bookshop. The good thing is we got a farewell gift of Carrefour vouchers from a friend, so it was really great. Helped with the spending.

Had dinner at the foodcourt, it was a nice time to close the day.

at 10AM we went home, it's a 12 hour trip for the day. Shower and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. See you in the morning.
